B is For Black is a tribute to those difficult large caches that are hard to spot, especially at night. If you try for this one at night, double the difficulty!

Cache contains the usual swag items, a log sheet and pen. Really like this area and felt this cache could mark the beginning of another mini-power trail if other cachers agree.

GPS had us somewhere else. There sure are a lot of good places to hide something around here. Anyway, after expanding our search to some more simpler locations, I found the cache. Thanks for the fun.

I hate this cache. Hate it hate it hate it!!! What's more is that this cache hates me. Now, please understand, my detest for this cache isn't simply unearned, and neither is my assertion that it is my nemesis. You must understand that I've gone seeking it 6 times. Four of those occasion I've dragged Ender (twice unwillingly) along with me to find it. The last two times I went alone and determined. In searching for this I've tried during the day, I've tried the afternoon, and late into the darkness of the night. I've overcome muggles and dogs, dodged Mercedes driving soccer moms and even the law. I've waded through thorny bushes and sat motionless with heart sunk in spider filled ivy next to various trees. Yesternight I hope was my last attempt. In going on my evening stroll I came across the area once more. My gps was with me for if I did not have it I could easily get lost in the heart of the wild that is known as Newport Beach. I tried to avoid the area, but it's temptation was too great. It was as if gravity itself pulled me closer and closer to the destination filled of dark decay and my greatest sorrow. Cloudy as it was, and though rain was in the forecast, it was as if the moon shined a single ray of stark light on the area and the stars shined brightly through the haze to illuminate the ground. So, once again, I made my attempt. Failing again, I left to complete my evenings journey. Upon completion of my excursion I turned and began to navigate back towards my humble domicile. Knowing that in my return I would be forced once more to cross the area where Black resides, I clinched my fist and closed my eyes horrified and yet excited that I might find the beast that haunts my sleep. As I did this I came to the mountain that leads to the grassy knoll that tries to swallow me each time I enter it. I surmounted the tall steps and as I drew closer wicked blue gnomes started laughing at me. Each time I took a step they laughed harder. In fear, horror and delight, upon sitting in the weeds again, on the edge of madness I ran the rest of the way home. All night in my dreams I could heard their hushed and squeaky voices crying over and over "you're not gonna find it, you're not gonna find it, your gps says you've found it, but you're too dumb to see it, so you're not gonna find it, you're not gonna find it, tee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee..." I wanted to...oh alas, my misfortune and the vileness I have become...with my heart filled with darkness I must confess I wanted to choke their little blue heads off but they were much stronger than me and so I just took another step and to the grassy knoll and into the bushes again defeated, solemn, and tortured I sat. I fear they will invade my dreams once more. As the days pass I shall see. I may only hope I can avoid it's great sway in my future journeys past the area it resides. But I leave this log to warn, beware all travelers who might attempt this great feat, for I may be leaving the first dnf here, but if you do not find it, it will possibly lead you to the geomadness I now know. Beware all cachers for the gnomes of the black, cute as they may be with pointy hats and round little bellies, they are wicked and shall haunt your dreams and lead you to unknowing where you seem to be.
