| It looks like they used to play volleyball here in the wash, but
not in a while. Don't bring a volleyball, too many bushes have
grown up. |
The cache is in the wash area between two office complexes. The
south complex is fully completed and the north is still under
construction. You are able to reach the cache starting from either
side of the wash. Parking might be a little limited during the
business day in the south complex but is available.
There are at least 6 different starting points for your hunt. Some
are MUCH longer but less difficult and one is easiest if you get
there BY BUS. See the WAYPOINTS below for info.
If you are one of those people that risk No Parking areas or like
to venture into to "uncharted waters", then there ARE shorter ways
to get to the cache.
Yes, this a public hiking path/area. There is a LONG trail around
the wash area and a paved path THROUGH the wash to the other side.
You can walk across the wash from one complex to the other OR walk
the long way around the main path.
COMMON SENSE NOTE: If it's pouring rain when you arrive, you
might want to wait until another time.
It looks like they used to play volleyball here in the wash due to
all the sand. Even the paved path is partially covered in places by
the sand build up. The entire area is covered by this very fine
sand (like people buy for sandboxes and volleyball courts).
Cache is about the size of a desk of cards. Bring a pen and maybe a
micro size swag to trade. I like to see people trade swags even
when it's a small to micro sized cache. Make it small if you bring
it...

#513. We parked at the second parking coords, and hiked in from there. Saw rock that looked a LOT like a volleyball! Druid Frank found the cache - Mamastones thought for sure she would beat him to the cache and get her first find for today, but no such luck! Took the wooden NY geocoin. TFTC!

Cool location, but there is a lot of construction going on nearby with lots of workers in full view. I parked within 250' of the cache near the xmas tree farm and had to hop a fence. Workers were scratching their helmets when they saw me walking down into the wash, but they had work to do and nails to hammer so they went back to work.

Out for a run with the Orange County Hash House Harriers. The trail came within 100 yds. of this one, so took a few moments to locate. Had little trouble finding. T: a squid, L: a geko. Thanks for the hide!

Loved the wash, a nice remnant of nature in the midst of the city! We parked at the shorter location but didn't see the path down, so we ended up walking all the way to the main street and around. Then after we had found the path, we made the mistake of leaving it and pushing through the trees and lush undergrowth. That led us to a dead end, so we had to retrace our steps. We saw a lot of really cute, tiny fish chasing each other in the stream. It is a great place and totally worth the (extended) trouble it took us. Took nothing, left stencil. TFTC

Looking at aerial photos I figured I could park much closer. But I didn’t bring climbing gear so I drove over to the suggested parking spot and took a pleasant afternoon walk I’m glad I didn’t try this cache last week during the heat wave!. By far the easiest find of the day and I got a great walk out of it too. Thanks for the fun.

Hints Be sure to close it tightly and put it to back where you find it so it does not get wet. It's in place where it could get wet due to storm water. I hope it won't get swept away if there a huge storm and the water level raises.
