| This webcam cache is located in
picturesque Newport Beach, just off the sidewalk that runs up
and down the beach near the end of 17th Street. Parking...
well good luck! There is free parking along the street - if
you can find it - and metered parking along Balboa Blvd - if
you can find it. As one would expect, this area will be much
busier during the summer months. |
I rated this as a 1.5 difficulty since
cell phone reception and parking may present a problem when
trying to do this one. Don't forget your sunglasses and
sunscreen!

image)
If you miss saving an image, you can view the
last 10 images taken
by the cam and save it from there as well.
This webcam can be found on the www.walknet.net web
site, whose owner has been gracious enough to grant us permission
to use. His webcams have been going for over 8 years now, which is
remarkably stable for a webcam.
What you will need:
- A GPS receiver (duh)
- A friend at his/her computer with an
internet connection.
- A mobile phone or set time when you will be
at the cache site.
How to find and claim this webcam virtual
cache:
- Go to the coordinates of this
cache.
- The coordinates get you to the area of the
cache. They are not exact coordinates telling you where to stand.
You, with the help of your friend, need to "hunt" for the
cache.
- Call a friend and have your friend go to
this cache page or the webcam
page.
- Let them guide you on where to stand for the
best picture then...
- Wave to the camera and wait for an update! I
want to see your hands up in the air! (this webcam updates
approximately every 2 minutes).
- When your friend sees a good webcam picture,
have them right click on the webcam picture and select "Save
Picture As...". Then have them send you the picture so
that...
- When you make your Webcam Photo Taken
log entry you can upload image with the log.
- Webcam Photo Taken logs without
proper pictures will be deleted (no night shots - you must
be visible in the picture). Alternate forms of photos will not
be accepted. Please don't log it until you have your picture
ready for upload.
Please note that the camera position might be very different
from the listed coordinates, so you'll need to work with the person
saving the photo for you to get the best possible position.

It was such an awesome morning at the beach. I took my dog Kahuna for a walk and had my wife at home save the picture. Thanks For This Webcam Cache. This is my 100th find!

Today was a beautiful day for a bike ride down the beach. Called my brother in Colorado to snap the photo. He was jealous of the nice weather. Pic shows me in the red shirt and Peakbagger in the tan shirt facing camera.

Spotted the camera pretty quickly and called my dad to take the shot. Its kinda hard to tell its me cause I'm all tiny in the picture, but I was holding my GPS out and trying to look noticeable. Fun cache.

This daddy had a great day on a beautful afternoon at the warm, sunny Newport beach and (not that he's biased or anything) enjoyed sharing the view with his even more beautiful four children...and the wonderful lady at home logging the photo! xoxoxo lsg

For our 100th find, we thought our first webcam cache would be appropriate...especially one by our friend BuzzKill who did us the favor of taking the photo for us. :-) Thanks, BuzzKill, for the find, the photo and the memories....Oh, and the ever-present association of stray shopping carts and you.... :-)

A great evening at the beach.

My brother is a pain but we finally got to a spot where he could see us between two poles for a beach volleyball net. The whole family all eight of us at 11:25AM PT.

Add this note to previous note: did not get picture because the only person available was my brother and he is not computer savvy enough to get snapshot.

Well, I didn't get this one logged right away and then it got put off for a while-- yeah, work sucks!
This was actually the first day (and first cache found) of our Disneyland/SeaWorld vacation. We had a good time and enjoyed chasing after a few select caches that helped get us to the beach and some site-seeing in SoCal. Thanks for the find and fun. --WeatherGuy-->
