| This cache will take you on a short hike along Upper Newport Bay. This area is full of little trails that wind through the brush. After the rainy season -- which is when this cache was placed -- the brush can be a bit overgrown and some areas may be a little muddy. |
You may see some nice wildlife on this hike, particularly birds and bunnies. I saw a pair of Mallards with about six baby ducklings, egrets, vultures, doves, and an occasional heron. In the Spring season, after the Winter rains, the wildflowers are in bloom also.
This is a three-part multi-cache. At the first waypoint, in addition to the coordinates for the second waypoint, you will find a nice viewpoint of the bay with some educational signs about the ecosystem.
The second waypoint will take you to a little secluded marsh area. This is where I saw the family of ducks.
The final waypoint is where you will find the camo box with some nice goodies enclosed.
Overall, this is a fairly easy hike, but sturdy shoes are recommended, as the footing can be uneven in some areas. Please be careful of this and other hazards that may be present along this hike, including: scary wildlife and prickly or itchy plants. Occasional astronomical high tides may cause brief tidal flooding on parts of the path, but the cache itself is located a few feet above this level and should stay dry. In other words, your shoes may get wet or muddy at times on the way to this cache.
Enjoy!

Yeesh... too long since we went cache-ing... holidays and all. Finally just dropped those TBs back so they can get circulated again. Sorry 'bug folks. =(
Fun cache, OC_Clay. Well done on the placements and containers.

Another great OC Clay cache. Great day, great sights, and great hike. Saw a HUGE Turkey Vulture alone the way just relaxing in a dead tree. I wish I'd read better and brought bigger swag to trade. Nice big cache with room for BIG swag... TFTC

Nice day for a hike! Really enjoyed ourselves. Part of the trail was a little muddy--don't know why (certainly no rain lately) Thanks for a good multi-cache.

Our first find as a team. This 3'fer had us hung up on WP#2 for some time. Had to go back to the car for the Garmin V as we didn't think our Etrex and Ique were up to it. We read GZ at about 15 feet away and took a bit to "see" the container. Nice hike out for the GeoPoodle too and that big spoon out in the bay was thankfully quiet.
Took the blue star stone and left a lavendar carbiner, SL

Replaced the cache container with a bigger, more waterproof one. Everything is in good shape here.

Haven't been caching much lately but today we explored a new part of the Backbay and I got a couple. This was a good multi. Looks like the container isn't going to be water tight though. Lots of rust and corrosion within. Nice walk from the visitor center area.

First geocache find; fun "threefer" though the noises from the dredging barge not so pleasant today...

In the area for a Boy Scout event. We had a great time finding this multi. The kids loved running around the trails and all the coordinates were great. Of course, on our way to the final stop we took the wrong trail, but after a short work out, we were at GZ. SLTN. Left a key clip and "I Love Camping" container.

Great multi! We had an enjoyable hike and the area is just beautiful.. We didnt use the hints but should have read the description better as we shouldn't have worn our good hikers! Our daughter got her new Van's muddy so I had cleaning duty today.. Anyhow - Took the gold ring and left blue glass star. Thanks for the great hunt and hides!
