A cache in the trails of Turtle Rock in Irvine. We were surprised that this great set of trails was not yet home to a cache. We hope that this one will inspire many more!

Inspired by a cache container found in "Mama Cache as Cache Can", my geofamily and I decided that the trails of Turtle Rock deserved a cache. It is a peanut butter bottle sized cache, neatly camouflaged by the kids while I was at work today.

While there are miles of trails spiderwebbing the area, and this cache is accessible from many directions, the easiest place to start is a school parking lot located at N 33 37.997 W 117 48.767. Once you park, look straight ahead - to the top you will go!

There are 122 steps from the parking lot (counted proudly by my kids!), and then a fairly steep and rocky hike to the top. While it is somewhat challenging, our 4, 5, and 7 year olds were with us to place the cache, so it is definitely manageable with kids. Wear sturdy shoes.

My 7 year old, being the experienced (25 or so finds) cacher that she is, spotted the mighty nifty hiding spot that the cache currently resides in.

Enjoy!

This was a great hike, it is definately enough to make you breathe hard, but the view is incredible and it is likely the coolest place I've ever been in Irvine...

Thanks!

On vacation from Overland Park, KS. Found with son who lives in Irvine. We also saw the guy flying the glider. Great view. Took nothing. Left personal geocoin. TFTC.

Found this one pretty quickly with the hint, great cache. Nice view, there was a guy flying gliders when we were there. Couldn't have found it without the hint though. Im thinking of adding my own cache up there, nice spot.

Almost DNF'd it, but when I read the cache description, I see that this is a larger cache. I realized I must be in the wrong spot. Spied a likely spot 16ft away and found the cache. Nice hiding spot. The views are great too. I've been here before flying my RC glider...lots of fun if the wind is just right.

Found this one while on a trip out from Wisconsin. Cool area with the park and reserve, and a nice little climb to the top that resulted in a fantastic view. TNLN SL TFTC!

Made my way up the steep slippery slope and found the prize! It was almost dark & in hopes of finding the others up here I moved along quickly. Thanks for the hide!
