| This cache is located in El Moro Canyon in Crystal Cove State Park, near our favorite viewing spot on our favorite local trail. We placed the cache so mountain bikers could get a great ride and hikers could do the round trip in less than a couple of hours. The terrain rating is based on the most direct route to the cache. |
This cache has been approved by the rangers because you do NOT need to bushwhack to get to it. In fact, your feet should not touch any plants when retrieving this cache. Please think before you step to keep geocaching a welcomed activity in the park.
We ride the ridge loop of El Moro Canyon clockwise for an exquisite 9 miles of what we love about mountain biking--short, technical hills; long, grinding hills; singletrack; great views; and after pushing hard mentally and physically for most of the ride you crest the ridge, feel the cool ocean breeze, and yippee-ki-ai down a fast downhill that you swear will drop you right the Pacific Ocean. It is the physical manifestation of pure joy.
The cache is 3.7 miles from the ranger station using the most direct route. It’s 5.1 miles from the ranger station if you ride our favorite ride. It’s anything in between depending on what your favorite trail is. Hikers, watch out for the many mountain bikers you’ll see (unfortunately, not all them are as nice as we are on the trail but we’re working on that).
The cache (an Altoids tin) originally contained: Homie K&S monkey 125 Marble 2 foreign coins Pin from a 5K run in Duluth, MN #1 pin Logbook and pencil
Email us if you need more directions for the ride. Parking is $5 and there is a picnic area near the parking lot and near the cache. If you’re up for another cache, check out Why We Ride--Relocated. Have fun!

Found it. What a great place to ride! I had no problem finding the cache, and didn't trample any plants on the way.

Nicely done. Found it quickly, which was good since I was trying to get 5 caches in this park on my lunch hour...ok, hour and a half...ok 2 hours if you include drive time. Anyway, the cache is in great shape and the views were great too. Now I have to go back UP the trail. Thanks for the fun.

Out for a ride with RideorDieJudy. We started the ride at Ridge Park and rode the upper ridge. Are the Zen Babes still active I haven't seen a log for a while. Keep the rubber side down. TNLNSL.

Our 4th find for today, this one is quite close to another cache. Mamastones spotted this one. We took the cat christmas ornament that was outside the cache container. We didn't add any trade items to the container since it was stuffed (also had a real spider in it!).
The cache description should be edited/updated. The cache container has apparently been replaced and is no longer a micro, we would classify it as a small size. Also the parking fee is now $10.
TFTC!

I'm guessing we did not take the most direct route for this one... after hiking for 2 hours and realizing it was on a parallel ridge, we almost turned tail since the sun was on its way down. Pressing on, my partner and I found it (after a couple of weewee stops) and traded a token and a green agate for the crayon and the clamp. SL... we don't recommend starting off at 3p in the afternoon for the scenic route...
