| Welcome to
the Sterling TB Museum! |
The Sterling Travel Bug museum
is a safe-house for TB’s and a drop-off point for artifacts
on a “touring exhibition” to catch a plane at John Wayne
Airport. Some might call the museum a private collection, but
rest assured, admission is free and open to the public. The
“docents” will be happy to help you locate the “signature
piece” of the museum. If you have time, be sure to take some
time to enjoy the self-guided tour and check out the “gift
shop”.
Museum Hours are:
Mon-Fri from 8am-7pm
Sat-Sun from 9am-5:30pm
Transfer of Artifacts: Just like a traditional museum,
Travel Bugs and Geocoins should be “formally accessioned by being
registered in the museum's collection with an artifact number and
details recorded about their provenance.” In other words, please be
sure to discover or log your TB’s in and out. This is not a TB
Jail/Hotel with occupancy rules, but please use good judgment on
how many items you take.

Went to the museum today and took a look around before a doctors appointment. Left Jalapeno TB, hopefully someone will pick him up on their way out of town and he'll get some mileage. TN since I only had 15 mins or so before my doctors appointment and instead of taking a peek at what I thought would be neat to trade, I spent most of the time explaining what geocaching is to one of the people who worked there who was interested :P

I dropped in after making a run to drop Luke off at the airport. What a fun place! The first docent I found knew right where to go. I took the PA coin ("Virtue, Liberty and Independence"), Lonesome Cowboy, Colin Tosayhi, and the Abu Kamal Syria diabetes bug. I left Chatty Notepad, The Cache Guardian, Dust Devil and the Ridgewood, USA diabetes bug.
Thanks for the fun!

Out caching with the Mojostones in the Irvine area late this afternoon. Lots of people here were willing to help us on our guided tour of the museum. Left of the Colin Tosayhi travel bug and picked up 3 others to move to caches in the near future. GREAT gift shop. We made a purchase before leaving and definitely plan to return. Saw several likely items to use for future travel bugs. We even met up with another artifact lover just as we were leaving. Thanks for the great SECURE place to exhibit our treasures!

Out and about in Irvine picking up a few caches with MIB. We have heard A LOT of good things about this cache, so we decided to put it on the "to do list" today. Moved three TBs and three geocoins in, and removed three TBs and three geocoins. Thanks for the great cache!

#582. This was a very enjoyable find! Found this while caching with the Druids today. The first "curator" we encountered gave us a clue where to look. After locating the beautifully decorated container, we exchanged TBs & coins, then browsed the "museum." Many interesting items, including some possible future cache containers. Druid Carol made a purchase at the "gift shop." On our way out, we met Boilermaker82, nice to meet you! Thanks DopeyDuck for the great TB Museum!

Got some strange looks from a guy at the counter with my query. And just then two fellow geocachers walk by. The tell tale sign of a handheld GPS gave them away. We chatted and chuckled at the location. They pointed me in the direction and off I went. Nice collection. I just admired and discovered a bunch.
