Caching in the OC Event - Paperless Q&A

This is an easy short hike with great views.
You DON'T need to type in all the CAIRNS, they are noted
in case someone knocks them over.

While out hiking one day in UCI area, I found this pile of rocks
along the trail. On the rocks there were markings. So I started
following them. Many bike and hike fans are familiar with cairns
(piles of rocks marking a trail). These are even better as there's
markings ON the rocks as well...

Follow the trail and PLEASE don't bother the cairns on the way.
You are welcome to restack them if someone else has bothered
them. I noted this trail many months ago and the cairns have
stayed in place all that time. Enjoy the view and the cache at
the end.... Be CAREFUL of the Final CAIRN !!!

I know some of the astronomy students, and feel so sorry for them every time that I come up here. The encroaching development and increasing light pollution has numbered their days. None the less, this is still a fun place to visit on nights that it is open to the public. Thanks for showing the locals this resource.

Found easy enough, once at site. In order to get to GZ need to go through a lot of new growth that is now dried out but tall. TFTC

Fun little hike. Except I probably should have taken some allergy medicine before tromping through all the flowers. TNLNSL

Trail immediately leading to the cache is a bit overgrown, but easily passable. TFTC.

Found the cache just a bit north of GZ. Log was wet so I replaced it so I was first to sign again Wink

Thx jshults for the hide and babysitting, err walking along to the cache!

Didn't know where to park and whether it's ok to trespass.
Thanks anyway

Well, none of the cairns are left with exception of the last one, which is pretty cool. Found the container open with nothing in it but scrounged around and found the log safely in its zip-loc baggie. Thanks for the cache.

Nice cache to do on the weekend. I went overland to the cache site while the better half took our dog to the UCI dog park. All had a great time.

We were visiting friends at UCI Faculty housing and went out for a quick cache with the kids. It is scary how much building will be going on there. TFTC. Signed log.

You're safe from the big, yellow machines....FOR NOW!Evil

I believe this area is slated for future staff/faculty housing.

please be very careful if you attempt this cache during the week. The earthmovers would squash you like a pancake in a heartbeat.
